- I often look at objects in such a way that the images I shoot are in patterns instead of in photo-realism
- Photographs of concrete objects are composed (decomposed?) into a generalized pattern or an abstract image
- We tend to define abstraction by noting similarities or differences of objects
- I think our brains look for patterns and to do this we zoom in and filter out information

My favorite: boats on the River Li. Took a few seconds to figure it out.
one of my favourites is actually the stoop/entrance way with the red lanterns and building posts. at first i just see the circles and lines and then realise how realistic the photo is. my mind goes back and forth between abstract and the realism of the photo with abstract winning out, mostly.

yes, patterns are everywhere – in life and in what we make.
Fav? At first it was the Strata Center then the fish drying then the coffee beans…guess there are many that are outstanding. Hope to see more soon. Is there a book coming after that? Good material for one.
